Fundraising

Our 2024 work was funded by the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools(AROS), Michigan Voices and Promote The Vote. Having completed our foundation building steps in 2024, we head into 2025-26 prepared to launch a full fundraising campaign to secure general operating and capacity building investments in addition to special projects funding.

Development

We are a full member of the Michigan Voices table. Michigan Voices (MV), an affiliate of State Voices, was established in 2005 as the statewide civic engagement collaborative table to educate, engage, activate, and protect underrepresented and disenfranchised communities and to ensure their full and equitable access to the democratic process. MV services and supports the web of Michigan progressive 501c3 nonprofits.

We were proud  to receive support from Promote the Vote to present the Anatomy of an Election Roadshow and to place advertising in our targeted communities.

We will continue to maintain relationships with Michigan Voices and Promote the Vote while expanding our relationships.

Programming

Our 2024 programming and communications goals:

1) Arm community members with the vocabulary and the knowledge to have conversations and make presentations in their communities.
2) Build infrastructure of volunteers to continue to grow our work.
3) Fill the airwaves with the message that our elections are secure and that you can trust your vote is counted. (Communications)

Community Engagement

We are proud to have engaged 307 participants in our Anatomy of an Election Roadshow stops. We used those events as an opportunity for participants to get comfortable with the vocabulary and the processes in place that secure our elections. As 2024 and the election season wore on, these conversations were going to be important. The Roadshow is a series of both virtual and in person events. We were excited to involve local clerks in 90% of our events, highlighting the clerks as the first point of contact for election questions and concerns.

Attendees:

MET local election officials

LEARNed how to find Michigan’s SINGLE source of all election related information.

LEARNed where to call or text if you have election questions or want to report a concern.

LEARNed about the absentee and early voting.

Build Infrastructure

From the 307 participants, we filled 24 election protection shifts. Twenty two(22) of those shifts were volunteers being trained and serving as poll challengers. Two(2) of those shifts were policy advocacy work at a Lansing lobby day.

Communications

From September 23 through November 20,

  • 48,600 Facebook views. Much of those came from boosted posts into the targeted communities

  • 1400 website visits, with 1300 of them being unique visits

  • Additionally, we have impacted tens of thousands of residents in our targeted communities through radio, print and digital ads
